Whirlwind Kid (Shōnen Senpūji, 1960-c.1962) is one of Osamu Kishimoto’s most notable adventure series, originally serialized in the boys’ magazine Hinomaru. It follows the young detective Tachibana Goro as he is drawn into a succession of dangerous and fantastical cases. Across eight volumes, Goro confronts a wide range of adversaries, from criminal masterminds to supernatural threats, including his recurring rival Jim Boy.
Blending detective fiction, martial arts, and science fiction, the series is marked by its fast-paced storytelling and inventive action sequences. Its final chapter brings the long conflict between Goro and Jim Boy to a decisive conclusion, making Whirlwind Kid a defining example of early 1960s boys’ adventure manga
