Takeaki Momose (1970-) is a Japanese mangaka known for his energetic, expressive style blending action, comedy, and the supernatural. Rising in the late 1990s and early 2000s, he is best known for Miami☆Guns, Magikano, and Kami Sen., several adapted into anime. Magikano, in particular, showcases his skill at combining humor with light fantasy, balancing quirky characters and magical hijinks.
In 2002, Momose illustrated the manga adaptation of RahXephon, originally an anime by Yutaka Izubuchi and Studio BONES. Serialized in Monthly Sunday Gene-X, the three-volume manga streamlined the complex sci-fi plot, emphasizing character development and emotional clarity. His expressive linework made the surreal story more accessible while maintaining its visual appeal.
Officially translated into English by Viz Media and also published in French and German, RahXephon was praised for its approachable storytelling and elegant adaptation. It remains a well-crafted companion piece, highlighting Momose’s talent for transforming intricate concepts into engaging, character-driven narratives
