Ishidōmaru (石童丸) is a legendary character from medieval Japanese folklore featured in sekkyō-bushi (didactic ballads), jōruri puppet plays and kamishibai. He is the son of a nobleman and a woman of lower status, who is cast out after his birth. As a young boy, Ishidōmaru sets out alone to the sacred Kumano mountains to search for his lost mother.
